Dear Bruce:

My wife and are now back in the US. We greatly enjoyed our trip. The guide, Joyce, and driver in Urumqi and Turpan were really great. Also, the Silk Road Vines hotel in Turpan is wonderful. Kucha was not a great success as the guide was not engaged and in order to access the most interesting caves you have to pay a ridiculous amount of money. Also, the hotel is dirty and without any character. Your service in organizing things was excellent and greatly appreciated. All best!

Hi Bruce,

Thank you for your help in making our once in a lifetime trip to China so special. We returned safely and have recuperated from the time change. Here is our brief evaluation of the trip.

We appreciated always having the guides present upon our arrivals in the different cities. We also were very pleased with the accommodations both in terms of locations, cleanliness and amenities, perhaps with the exception of the cruise ship Victoria which has seen better days. The food was fine though we noticed the chosen establishments catered to tourist almost exclusively and the menus were very similar from one place to another. A little more variety and choice would have been appreciated. The breakfasts at the hotels were great!

Our guides in Xian and Guilin were excellent. They knew so much about history and culture and customs and were enthusiastic about their job. Lee in particular in Guilin was with us from early morning to late evening. Our guide in Chongqing was with us for only a few hours and was quite busy doing business on his cell phone so we learned very little from him though he did take us to the designated areas on the itinerary.

Our guides in Shanghai (turned out we had 2) were fine. They tried to accommodate our requests to the best of their ability.

The itinerary seems to cover the areas quite well. We did get to see a lot and were busy the whole time. It was nice to have free days in both Beijing and Shanghai.
