    Tibet runs first Fuxing bullet train on Lhasa-Nyingchi railway on June 25. The green Fuxing bullet train runs at a speed of 160 km/h and cuts down the journey between Lhasa and Nyingchi within 3.5 hours. Except the fast speed and great convenient, travelers can also enjoy spectacular plateau scenery and experience special engines and oxygen supply system.   • Important Adjustment of Tibet Train Schedules Since End of 2017

    Qinghai Tibet Railway Corporation has carried out a new Tibet Train working diagram since late December, 2017. Now all the trains to/off Lhasa run under the latest operation schedule after changed some departure and arrival time, midway stop stations. Meanwhile all the Tibet Trains have cut down the travel time, 5 Tibet Trains (originating from Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Lanzhou and Xining) changed the arrival time to Lhasa, 7 trains adjusted the departure time off Lhasa. Especially the Chengdu and Chongqing Lhasa Trains changed the departure time from afternoon into night, takes 7hours less riding and cheaper tickt price.

  • More Xining Trains Opened in Chengdu, Chongqing and Kunming

    For the operation of Lanzhou Chongqing railway in Mid-October, there are 6 direct passenger trains (3 round-trip trains) between Chengdu, Chongqing, Kunming and Xining were added to offer tourists more transfer choice to Tibet in Xining. Thus tourists can have more flexible alternatives to experience plateau train travel during peak seasons or major Chinese festivals. And Kunming opened the first daily train to Xining, Qinghai which is conveniently linked with Lhasa. If you depart from Kunming or Yunnan Province, you can firstly take the Kunming Xining Train to Xining within two days first and then transfer into a Tibet train to Lhasa. Besides, Chengdu and Chongqing both reopened one more daily train to Xining respectively.

  • Travelers Have to Change Tibet Trains at Xining during April to August

    Qinghai Tibet Railway Corporation has lately carried out a policy that a passenger who takes a train from Chengdu, Chongqing, Shanghai or Guangzhou to Lhasa will have to change to a Plateau Train with Oxygen System at Xining Railway Station. If one takes a train from Lhasa to Chengdu, Chongqing, Shanghai or Guangzhou, he/she also needs to change to a regular train at Xining Railway Station. The policy has been put into practice since April 19, 2017, and will continue to the end of Summer School Vacation in China (around late August). (Note: If you are taking the train Z21 (Beijing to Lhasa), Z917 (Lanzhou to Lhasa), Z918 (Lhasa to Lanzhou), you don’t have to change trains at Xining Railway Station.)

  • Tibet Travel Permit Required for Tibet Train Travel

    According to China National Railway Administration’s regulation, foreigner travelers need to have a Tibet Travel Permit (Tibet Entry Permit) to take a train to/off Tibet. The permit is firstly required when you or your agent book Tibet train tickets at railway station or branch offices. It is also needed when you check in your train at railway station.
