Entrance Fees Changes from June 1, 2012 in Tibet

The Tibet Tourism Administration issues a notice that the Entrance fees to Potala Palace, Tashihunpo Monastery, Palkor Monastery, Kumbum stupa and Baksum Tso Lake will be raised from June 1, 2012.

From June 1 in the peak season, the entrance fees to Potala Palace and Zhol City (Snow City) Tashilhunpo Monastery, Palkhor Monastery and Baksum Tso Lake will be doubled on the basis of original prices. And in the low season, the entrance fees will remain the same.



The peak season starts from May 1 to October 31 and the low season lasts from November 1 to April 30.

Meanwhile, the active duty military, the aged, the disabled, teachers and students who are with valid identification could enjoy half-price to visit these sites. Teachers could enjoy free ticket on Teachers’ Day, active duty military on Army Day and pupils on Children’s Day as well. As to the believers, Tibet Tourism Administration will still perform the current policy.

According to a survey, this year from January to April, the tourism market in Tibet was heated. This year, the plateau region is expecting more than 10 million tourists and 12 billion RMB of tourism income.
