If it is your first time to visit Hong Kong, you can stay there for longer. But usually, we suggest you only spend one or two days except the arrival day in Hong Kong to explore the landmarks, such as Repulse Bay, Victoria Peak, Stanley Market, etc, then take a flight to the inner mainland, because Hong Kong is the kind of place where you may return several times. Since English is highly spoken, western cultre is fully spread, we also recommend independent travel in Hong Kong. You will totally feel like a fish in water!
As for the part in Tibet, there are many destinations waiting for your visit. The only limitation is your budget of time. Lhasa is the transfer center as well as the first destination in Tibet where houses Potala Palaces and many magnificent Buddhism monasteries. Many people usually spend 4 or 5 days to explore Lhasa city and around, and then depart. If more days are allowed, you can extend your trip to Shigatse(2 days), Mount Everest(4 days), Namtso Lake(1 day), Nyingchi(3 days), etc.
