Tibet Monasteries

Buddhism is essence of Tibetan culture. And monasteries are the best place to experience Buddhism. You can see devout and knowledgeable lamas in every monastery you visit. Besides, Tibet monasteries are also featured in spectacular architectural style which you can only see in Tibet. There is a monastery even a small town.

Lhasa and surrounding regions have gathered many important monasteries in Tibet, including Jokhang Temple, Sera Monastery, Drepung Monastery, Ganden Monastery and Drak Yerpa.

Shigatse area also an important Buddhism center where you can see some outstanding monasteries, such as the largest monastery in Tibet – Tashilumpo Monastery, historical Palkor Monastery in Gyantse and Sakya Monastery in Lhatse, and the highest monastery in the world – Rongbuk Monastery on the peak Mount Everest.

Tibet Lake

Tibet has best landscape of lakes in China. Lakes situates on high plateaus above 4000m. Water is pure and tranquil because the lakes get water supply from melting snow from snow mountains. Clear water, blue sky, pure snow mountain, animals and peaceful monasteries form the picturesque views. Among all the lakes in Tibet, there are three famous "holy lake" - Namtso Lake in Ngachu, Yamdrok Lake in Shannan and Manasarovar Lake in Ngari.

Snow Mountains

Tibet plateau is the highest range in the world. There are many high peaks over 6000m in Tibet. Tibetan respect mountains as embodiments of Gods who protect and bless them. Among of all, the Mt. Everest is the most famous one which is the highest mountain in the world. It is located on the border between Nepal and China. In the remote Ngari area, there is the most important holy mountain for Buddhism - Mt. Kailash. Another famous tourist high peak is the Namjagbarwa Peak In Nyingchi.

Tibetan Palace

Tibetan artisans are good at creating brilliant palaces. The most famous one is the symbol of Tibet – Potala Palace. It is located in the central Lhasa city. Another famous place is the Yumbulagang Palace which is the first Palace of Tibet.
