Lamu was a wonderful tour guide. She went out of her way to explain in detail the aspects of the monasteries and palaces. Her breadth and depth of knowledge is immense. As a person, she made us feel welcome in Tibet. She gave us advice regarding how to negotiate with the local merchants. She took us to see the Potala Palace at night to see it illuminated and the wonderful Potala Park with its fountains and music. When Jan was feeling tired, Lamu recommended that we return to the hotel to rest for an hour before continuing the tour. Her concern was for our well-being and comfort as well as providing an excellent visit to Lhasa. If we were to return to Tibet, we would request to have Lamu as our tour guide. The driver did a very good job navigating the streets of Lhasa. Since he did not speak English, we did not have an opportunity to interact with him. He was punctual and waited patiently while we toured.

Sorry for the late reply, but I wanted to sort through my pictures before I
answered you, so I could send you some.
Our trip to Tibet was very interesting. It is a beautiful country and both our
guides and drivers in Xining and Tibet were very good and kind people. But
first, me and my family want to thank you for the nice surprise in Xining with
the birthday cake!! That was wonderful, thank you.
We still enjoyed our trip very much. The accommodation was very good, the guides did a wonderful job and we learned a lot about Tibet, Buddhism and the people. I am sure we will be thinking of this journey for a very long time!!
I wanted to thank you for the very nice correspondence! I have enjoyed planing this trip for me and my family very much and our communication via mail was a big part of that. Thank you for making my mother's birthday tibet trip a success.

I’m fine. Thanks.
After 7 hours delay on my flight back to Munich – I had to wait from 11pm to 8am on the Beijing airport – and the first two working days with total 31 hours in the office I was really tired. So far I did not contact any friend because I was just tired or busy with work. ;-)
I hope I find time at the weekend to start writing my report (only German). And then I will go through my 2499 pictures and movies!!!!!!!!!!! Stupid!
But the most important picture for both
of us. It is called: the beginning of a wonderful friendship!
